Eco-Living Consulting Services
Eco-officiency provides sustainable-living consulting for
individuals and families who want to create and sustain an
eco-lifestyle. We specialize in assisting busy individuals
and families who want to ‘green’ their homes
and personal lives, but don’t have the time to research,
investigate and implement green solutions by themselves.
Eco-officiency first conducts an extensive eco-living assessment
of our client’s home and their personal/family lifestyle.
Once completed, we create a customized and comprehensive
sustainable-living plan addressing that client’s particular
needs. Our sustainable-living plans save money and resources,
reduce our clients’ ecological footprints, and create
eco-friendly lifestyles.
Each sustainable-living plan covers the following areas
areas:
Energy Consumption
Did you know that by implementing a few inexpensive energy-efficient
measures, you can reduce your energy bills by 10% to 50%?
For the typical home this means a savings of $140 - $ 700
annually. Eco-officiency will evaluate ways in which to reduce
energy consumption and recommends the best products, services
and energy-saving resources. We will determine if you
need a full Home Energy Audit and renewable energy options. |

Water Use
The average American family uses 182 gallons of water
each day, two and four times the average consumption of a
family in Europe. The average American family uses about
40% of their water within the home and the remaining 60%
outside - for gardens and landscaping. Eco-officiency educates
its clients on many zero-cost ways to reduce water consumption
inside and outside the home. We also recommend low-flow and
other water-saving devices when appropriate. |

Waste Reduction and
Recycling
The average American generates over 1,600 pounds of trash
per year- more than twice the garbage of the average European.
If all Americans recycled paper, plastic and glass bottles,
and aluminum cans, this would divert over 51% of the waste
in our current landfills. If all Americans composted food
scraps and yard waste this would divert another 25%. Each
American has the potential to divert over 75% of their current
waste just through recycling and composting. Eco-officiency
helps families develop convenient recycling and composting
systems within their homes and educates them on how to reduce
other hard-to-recycle waste through reduction, re-use and
other national recycling services. |

Consumption and
Purchasing
According to the United Nations, it would take 3 planet
earths to support everyone in a consumption-oriented western
lifestyle. Creating a sustainable eco-lifestyle often starts
with your purchasing habits. While reducing overall consumption
is of primary importance, wisely choosing what you
do purchase provides manufacturers with information on consumer
demand – if purchases indicate demand for green products,
economic growth in a more sustainable way is possible. Eco-officiency
educates families on the 10 essential questions to ask before
purchasing a product and provides information on the best
green products and services in the market today. Eco-officiency
also helps you reduce and re-purpose current household items. |

Transportation
By driving two fewer days per week, the average person
can save about 143 gallons of gasoline and keep about 2,778
pounds of CO2 out of the atmosphere in a year. If 64 % of
all licensed US drivers (or ½ of the US population)
followed suit, this would be the same amount of oil that
Iraq produces in one year. It would also save 340 billion
pounds of CO2 emissions. Busy families with varying work
and school schedules and other activities can find using
alternative transportation challenging. Eco-officiency will
helps families determine a plan to incorporate more alternative
transportation methods into their lifestyle, without giving
up convenience, and helping to reduce the monthly gas bill. |

Chemical and Non-Toxic Alternatives
There are currently more than 85,000 synthetic chemicals
registered for use in North America. Only 10% of them have
been fully tested for their effects on human health and the
environment. It is difficult to know about all of the
harmful chemicals, toxins, and products in your home when
you don’t necessarily see, feel, or even smell them.
them. Many of the chemicals used in the last 50 years do
not break down and have become known as major pollutants
in the environment. Most significantly, these pollutants
are in our food and water supply. Some blood tests have shown
that children have chemical exposures up to seven times greater
than their parents. Eco-officiency examines the products
used in your home and educates you on the potential health
risks associated with using these chemicals. We also examine
safe places and locations to keep chemicals and toxins in
order to protect individuals, families and pets from increased
exposure. |

Food Choices
The food choices that you makes can greatly affect your
health and the environment. Food production and consumption
affects many areas of the environment including high energy
and water use, high carbon output, land destruction, and
high pesticide and chemical use. Eco-officiency educates
you on eco-friendly food choices that will decrease your
ecological footprint and increase your health and vitality. |

Sustainable Travel
Tourists now spend $1.6 trillion per year on tourist-related
activities while 10% of the jobs worldwide are in travel-related
businesses. Tourism provides enormous opportunity for developing
cities and countries economically but can also become a means
to cultural and environmental destruction. Eco-officiency
provides sustainable travel resources and guidance in order
to assist travelers in conserving the environment, improving
the well-being of local people, and maximizing their travel
experience. |
